The Novel Book

It's finally here! I went to Staples today, came home, and put the organizational skeleton into a 2" binder. Someday, I hope this thing becomes a series of novels. And to whoever says writing isn't a helluva lotta work...

Right now, I'm borrowing Holly Lisle's suggestions from her Create A Culture writing clinic. I hope to better tweak the organizational headings to better fit my style and way of thinking, in the future. But for now... I have an index (table of contents), tab dividers for my five general categories (home life, community, religion, govt, and maps), graph paper, and plastic sheet protectors. I've already transferred in several maps. One shows the world, it's major continents, nations, islands, special geographic features, a few weather patterns, and general culture locations. Two maps detail the specific islands of the Archipelago (where most of the major action of the story happens). The final one is a street map of the main port city of Cristosol with all the major structures and some important topographical details penciled in. All works in progress of course, but now safely behind the archival safe plastic sheet protectors.

It's a start. Eventually I will have to take my hodgepodge of all notes and random ideas (otherwise known as a spiral notebook), sort all the misc stuff out, and put it into the novel book. But that can wait until I have a bit more handle on things. Suffice to say that now, everything is in one place and showing some progress.

Oh, I am feeling so very virtuous! What a good little writer I am.
